Golf in CyprusLiving in Cyprus

Golf is a fairly new sport to Cyprus, with the first courses being popularised during the late 1990s

The Cyprus Golf Federation (CGF) was established in the year 2000 with the objective of promoting and managing amateur golf on the island. The four courses open for play are all CFG members.

Handicap Rules
The CGF currently adheres to the Council of National Golf Unions (CONGU) Unified Handicap scheme. If you have a valid handicap certificate from a CONGU, EGA or USGA affiliated club, then that certificate should be accepted by a Cyprus affiliate of the CGF.

If you have no handicap, or no valid handicap certificate, you will need to play for a card as follows:

  • Provide a minimum of 3 cards of 18 hole rounds played off the white tees (men) or red tees (ladies)
  • 3 Cards must reach a gross score of up to 107 for men and 120 for ladies
  • These cards must be signed by a club CGF committee member
