Cyprus has about 2.5 million visitors per year; a high rate compared with the islands population (793,100). An interesting factor in tourism statistics is that a signifi¬cant number of holidaymakers who come to Cyprus are repeat visitors.

The auxiliary tourist projects aiming at upgrading tourism as listed below are considered viable and under certain circumstances may secure funding for the European Union:
